What is Pétanque?

In Pétanque the aim of the game is to score points by having boules closer to the target than other players after all boules have been thrown. Players either throw or roll boules closer to the small target ball, called a cochonnet or hit their opponents' boules away from the target, while standing inside a circle with both feet on the ground.

The game is normally played on hard dirt or gravel and can be played in public parks, or in places called boulodromes.
