Forget staycations, save some money and try something new! How about camping in Singapore? Camping during the upcoming long National Day weekend may not entice you, but it’s worth the try! :)
Forget the harsh OBS memories during our school days, we now have control over the activities we want to do & how we sleep and eat!
Camping in Singapore can be a little challenging as we only have 3 parks that we can pitch a tent at - East Coast Park, West Coast Park and Pasir Ris Park.
Either way, camping in Singapore requires permits and this can be easily obtained through your nearest AXS Station or the NParks website.
Alternatively, for those who want to be surrounded by nature, you can check out campgrounds in Pulau Ubin - Jelutong, Mamam and Endut Senin campsites. Do note that permits are required for big groups, you can get more information from NParks website.
Camping is definitely a fun activity to do with your family and friends, and here are 5 reasons why you should start camping during this upcoming national day holiday! :)
#1: Bask in Singapore’s Nature
It’s easy to overlook the beauty of nature in Singapore especially when we live in a concrete jungle.
Camping brings you closer to nature and you’re able to get away from the bustling city. Listening to the rustling of the leaves and the waves crashing on the shores will take you to a completely different setting.
If you have never experienced camping and being close with nature, you should start now! Nothing is greater than waking up to the majestic sunrise as you begin your day. :)
#2: It’s Great Bonding Time!
Camping is the perfect activity to bond with your family or friends!
To make things easy, just head down to your nearest Decathlon store and get everything you need for a camping trip together! Our friendly sport advisors will be happy to help you guys through the process!
There are tons of things to do while you're camping in Singapore! Want to cycle? Just head down to the nearest bike rental shop along the beach and cycle for a few hours. Kite flying? Swimming at the beach?
There are endless options, and you can make your decision while shopping at Decathlon. With over 60 sports to choose from, pick the one you will enjoy the most!
It's the perfect recipe for quality time :)
#3: Allow Your Mind to Relax
Did you know it has been proven that being in nature allows the mind to relax? Allow yourself to be in nature for a couple of days, and you'll find yourself forgetting all the tension you've been building up!
Living in a fast-paced city like Singapore, there's always the constant hustle and bustle! This actually puts a lot of stress on our brains. Being in nature helps to get away from all that, and helps to calm our nerves and ultimately, relax :)
#4: Bang for the Buck!
Everything you need for your camping trip can easily be found at Decathlon at a low cost. Getting camping supplies is an investment, and moreover, these products can be reused for other purposes, (psst.. You can even reuse your foldable chairs to watch fireworks during National Day, or for extra seating space when you’re hosting a party! :) )
From tents, chairs, tables, sleeping bags, we have everything you need for a camping trip!
#5: Connect to Disconnect
Many of us, myself included, have developed an over reliance on technology in our day to day lives. However, being in nature will make you realise that you really can survive without technology!
Being away from technology and work brings about a sense of relief and comfort as you are able to concentrate on yourself and those around you completely.
But when on a camping trip, try to reduce your reliance on your devices and work with what you have rather than search on Google for help! You will realise how little you can survive with and how creative your mind can get! ;)
This coming National Day is the perfect chance for you to explore a new sport with your family and friends. Together, you can reminisce over your childhood days growing up in Singapore.
You can always catch the National Day Parade on your phones and find the perfect spots around town to catch the spectacular fireworks that always bring joy to anyone watching.
