How to Lose Weight Fast: 5 Easy Steps

Just ask a few of your friends why they love playing sports and why they love exercising. I’m sure you’ll get a huge range of answers! Some will say that they exercise to stay healthy, or because they have an upcoming competition coming up, or just for the pleasure of spending time with their family. And of course, you will have people telling you that they exercise to lose weight.

Here’s some tips that you can follow if you want to lose weight the healthy way!

1. Diet Wisely!

The first thing that comes to mind when people think of losing weight is to eat less. It’s no secret that we gain weight from what we eat - but that doesn’t mean that fasting will help you to lose weight. Our body gets used to our regular eating habits, and making drastic changes to that is actually really bad for your health.
It’s also not sustainable in the long run, and can eventually result in a “back to normal” effect - where at the end of the day, your dieting efforts will not make any impact!

Losing weight through eating less could also mean losing muscles - which is definitely not what you’re looking for! That’s why it is important to prioritize a slow, but continuous effort to reduce your food intake.

2. Eat Healthier

It’s always good to prioritise healthy eating over just dieting.

Try to avoid any food and drinks that contain added sugar by replacing your soda cans with fresh juices, fruits & vegetables ;) Fresh fruits & vegetables actually contain a lot of fiber - which helps with a higher calorie burning rate, and it makes you feel full faster!

Most importantly, be sure to eat well after every sport session as it is essential to your body’s recovery process. While it is tempting to indulge yourself after a workout, make sure you’re not eating more than what you’ve just burned!

3. Define Clear & Realistic Objectives

Before you start on any weight loss program, it is important to have a clear & realistic objectives. This will help to motivate yourself and give you proper direction.

As a start, choose a sport that is intense yet fun at the same time (like running, or swimming) - and start exercising! Get your friends together for a sport session, or join a club to help motivate you further :)

So what is an ideal weight loss goal? It varies from person to person, but generally studies have shown that losing 0.5kg per week is ideal :) Trying to lose more in a short period of time can result in loss of muscles, and of course - loss in motivation levels. Don’t try to rush your weight loss process - find your own rhythm and find a pace which you are comfortable with!

4. Take it Step-by-Step

Remember, it is important that you don’t rush this process. In order to lose weight in an efficient and sustainable way, the most important thing is to have a step-by-step approach. Nobody can run a marathon without any training!

For example, if you choose to lose weight through running, you don’t necessarily have to start by running continuously! You can start by alternating your pace (walking & running) in order to slowly train & adapt your body. Once you are able to run without needing to walk, slowly increase the distance or your speed.

5. Keep Going!

Keep yourself motivated! :)
Celebrate each workout (in a healthy way, of course! ;)) and keep going at it! Reaching your goal shouldn’t be the end of your journey, but just an extra motivation to continue with your healthy lifestyle.
