The volume of each rucksack is measured using a standardised method: we fill the main compartment as well as each pocket with little balls. Then we empty these balls into a graduated container, which gives the equivalent volume in litres.
1 - Untighten all straps (straps, belt, load adjuster straps) 2 - Put the rucksack on 3 - Tighten the shoulder straps 4 - Adjust the load adjuster straps as needed
Place heavy equipment at the bottom. Pack your clothes around these items. Keep your waterproof jacket and/or fleece close to hand. In the pockets, place the small equipment that you use during the day (sun cream, map, sunglasses, etc.). The water bladder can be placed in the compartment generally provided down the back and your flask in the outside water pockets designed for this.
We carry out several laboratory tests to validate the bag's components: fabric, buckles, straps, foam, zips. For example, for a fabric, we test resistance to abrasion and tearing, colour fastness when subject to UV light and washing, waterproofing. We also carry out tests to check the resistance of assemblies by carrying out accelerated reproductions of the wear and tear on a bag over the years on a mannequin that reproduces the movement of a hiker.
The product's environmental impact is calculated over its entire life cycle using various indicators. A score from A to E is given to help you easily identify the most eco-friendly products by comparing products of the same type (T-shirts, trousers, rucksacks, etc.). Decathlon is committed to displaying the environmental information of its products. Web: sustainability.decathlon.com Explanatory video: https://youtu.be/8t63KkRwn_8

Our design team conceives, designs and creates Quechua products in France, at the foot of Mont Blanc. We test them in the field with other hikers, to check their comfort and durability. Brittany, Corsica, Ile de La Réunion... We go to as many places as possible, in all weather conditions. This testing gives us plenty of opportunities to discuss the products, get your feedback and plan our future collections!
