Technical Information

1
Feather origin
As part of our commitment to using responsible production methods, we decided to work only with RDS (Responsible Down Standard Certified) certified suppliers who guarantee that the down and feathers come from ducks and geese bred for their meat and protected from acts of intentional cruelty. For more information: http://responsibledown.org/ http://developpement-durable.decathlon.com/documents-et-rapports/documents/
2
Inflating Power of down/feather filling
For this down jacket with its 85/15 filling, the fill power is guaranteed to be 800 CUIN (European standard). The fill power is a measure of the down's thermal insulation capacity and its potential to "trap" air. Down with higher fill power takes up more space, trapping more air and providing greater thermal insulation.

The advantages of duck down and feather filling*

Care instructions for jackets containing down and feathers
This down jacket fabric is water-repellent. It allows water droplets to roll off the fabric, which delays the time it takes for water to penetrate the down jacket, giving you time to seek shelter. The shoulders and hood of the down jacket, which are more exposed to the rain, are waterproof. However, we advise you to wear a waterproof jacket over the down jacket in case of prolonged exposure to rain.

Test
10 trekkers (5 men and 5 women), who are not linked to Quechua, tested this down jacket for a week of trekking in November 2016, in the Mont Blanc mountain range. The feedback given to us after this test have enabled us to validate this down jacket for mountain trekking.

Product test
All our gilets are laboratory tested with 5 km/h wind, worn as a 2nd layer on a thermal mannequin (over a long sleeved t-shirt). Their level of thermal insulation is measured on a scale of 1 to 5, enabling you to make the choice that best fits your use. When worn underneath the TREK 500, it can provide 6°C extra warmth when compared to a down jacket worn without gilet.
