Durability of the glove
The pre-shaped construction of the hand and fingers makes the grip on hiking poles precise while also making it easy to handle snowshoes. The palm is made with leather reinforcements around each finger for added durability when using poles and handling bivouac equipment, tent poles, tent pegs as well as handling camp stoves, cooksets, etc.
Given the popularity of the Trek 900 gloves, we decided to prioritise improving its environmental impact. From winter 2020, the inner lining of the glove is dyed using a clean process called dope dyeing (the threads are dyed in bulk) which reduces CO2 emissions by 12% compared to the old glove. Ease of use of the glove
Touchscreen-compatible thumb and index finger for using the basic functions of a smartphone without removing your gloves. Removable drawcord at the wrist that can be manipulated with one hand. Loop to link the gloves. Elasticated wrist making it easier to wear the gloves with our TREK jackets.
Dexterity of gloves
The dexterity of a glove is its ability to manipulate objects. Our gloves have been scored in the laboratory on a scale of 1 to 5. The closer the dexterity rating of the glove is to 5, the more you can handle things with the gloves as if they were off. In particular, we tested how easy it is to get a jacket on and open it with the gloves. The dexterity of these gloves has a rating of 2 out of 5
How to effectively protect your hands from the cold
in the same way you wear several layers of clothing when trekking, you can wear liner gloves under your gloves, that will act as a thermal base layer. This multi-layer system enables several layers of air to form around your hands, efficiently insulating them from the cold! Remember to wear large enough gloves to avoid your fingers being constricted. Compression reduces blood circulation in the fingers.
Has the rain got inside your gloves?
In this case, dry them in a dry place but avoid placing them on a heat source. This could damage the fibre and they could lose their shape!
Store in a clean and dry place.
Our design team is based at the foot of the Mont-Blanc, in Haute-Savoie (France). All year round, our designers create and develop products that are beautiful, simple and technologically advanced. These are then ruthlessly tested in the field because we believe that the only way to continually improve is to test the products under the real-life conditions that you will experience.
