Photochromatic lenses automatically adapt to luminosity. The lenses become tinted in around 30 seconds (45 seconds to deactivate). The perceived luminosity changes little, even if the external luminosity alters. For example, when riding a bike, you will not even notice the tinting. The tint changes gradually. A cold temperature will activate (tint) the glass more quickly.
