Our design team developed this swimsuit for advanced surfers in all kinds of waves. The BAHA crop top is the inspiration for the MOANA 1-piece continuing the series for young advanced surfers. Its completely open-back design allows for total freedom of movement when paddling.
Surfing is one of your favourite sports and you surf regularly in warm water. During your sessions, you paddle out to the line-up and either duck dive or turtle roll, depending on whether you are on a shortboard or a longboard. You surf waves bigger than a meter and know some manoeuvres. You often wipe out and you are used to being thrown about underwater. You want your swimwear to stay in place with each of your movements and not get in your way when paddling.
The MOANA one-piece is perfect for advanced young surfers surfing in warm water. As the BAHA made such a splash with our young customers after its debut last year, we've created this one-piece crossed back version for optimal freedom of movement. One-piece suits provide ideal protection from chafing from contact with the board.
We design swimsuits that promise to stay in place in the waves. To test them, we use a panel of female surfers with different body shapes who will follow a test protocol in a pool at our design offices in Hendaye. This protocol aims to reproduce the sensations experienced by surfers when being thrown around by a wave. If this test is conclusive, we go surfing in the sea to test our swimwear in real conditions.
At Decathlon, we design swimsuits for young surfers by taking into account their growth. It is for this reason that we systematically associate the child's height with the size, as age is not sufficient to guarantee the correct size. Two 10 year old girls can be of totally different height, weight and shape and have different measurements. We also recommend trying the swimsuits on if possible.
Here is the link between age and height on our swimsuit labels: 8 years: from 125 to 132 cm 10 years: from 133 to 142 cm 12 years: from 143 to 150 cm 14 years: from 151 to 160 cm 16 years: from 161 to 169 cm
To ensure a perfect fit in the water, it is important to choose the right size while you are dry because once they are in the water, swimsuits become looser. We therefore recommend you buy the correct size. The swimsuit needs to fit snugly against your body in the fitting room, you should feel supported. The elastane contained in certain components used in the design of our swimsuits softens and relaxes in the water.
Is the size or style not suitable for you? Would you like to exchange it at your Decathlon store? No problem, just be sure not to cut off the label of the swimsuit in case you want to exchange it.
Based in Hendaye, in South West France, OLAIAN is Decathlon's new surfing and bodyboarding brand. In our offices at the water's edge, we can design a swimsuit and then on the same day test it directly in the sea to check it stays in place in the waves.
The environmental impact of the product is calculated over its entire life cycle and with different indicators. An overall score (ABCDE) is attributed to help you easily identify the products with the best environmental performance by comparing products of the same type with one another (T-shirts, trousers, backpacks, etc.). Decathlon chose to apply this voluntary environmental labelling scheme. For more information, visit: http://sustainability.decathlon.com/
This product has been tested in use in Hendaye and has been subjected to numerous laboratory tests to guarantee the quality of use for which it was designed: tests on the fabric's elasticity and strength, colour fastness when rubbed, washed, exposed to sea water, chlorinated water and light, and tests on the product's overall performance after several washes.
