Dimensions and habitability

Architecture, hoops and pegs
Lightweight aluminium hoop, break-resistant and frost-proof: aluminium 7001 T6 Yunan SD70PF Ø 8.3 mm. Optimised square pegs: "anvil" head, over-thickness on the body, which makes them very durable and lightweight (aluminium 7075 T6). Not anodised for reduced environmental impact. Simple Y dome shape: the main hoop divides into 3 feet to allow a quasi-freestanding structure. A top hoop adds volume and therefore liveability.
The flysheet and bedroom are separate. So putting it together is done in the traditional way: the bedroom, placed on the ground, is clipped on the hoops. The whole thing is then covered by the flysheet. Adjust the tension. If necessary, the bedroom can be dismantled from inside. Colour-coding on the hoop, bedroom and flysheet for intuitive pitching. In case of rain, to put the flysheet up first, you’ll need a compatible groundsheet (ref 8545723).
Forclaz tents are tested in the laboratory: tent mounted, 200 litres/sqm/hour (4 hours, the equivalent of tropical rain). They are also tested by a panel of users in the field. 20 denier polyester (PES) flysheet and 40D polyamide (PA) groundsheet are in coated polyurethane (inside) and silicone (outside). We test all our tents in a wind tunnel on a rotating platform where we can expose each side of the tent to the wind. To guarantee its wind resistance, the tent must be properly pitched, taut but not stretched, with all the guy ropes in position around the tent. It should remain habitable at wind speeds of 60km/h, measured near ground level. Our tents are certified by the independent CSTB laboratory in Nantes.
Ventilation and condensation prevention
Bedroom with mosquito net for ventilation and water-repellent fabric to protect from condensation and draughts. There are 2 large top vents, which you can close with a rip-tab. To limit condensation inside the tent, it must be correctly assembled, canvas taut, but not excessively so. Double-slider zips on the door to keep it open. Using the ventilation sections and good air circulation limits indoor humidity
3-season tent: your tent will protect you from the harsh weather conditions you would encounter in the spring, summer or autumn. It will support light snowfall but is not designed to withstand heavy loads that would weigh on the structure. In case of snow, remember to shake your tent regularly to cause accumulated snow to fall off on the ground and avoid putting too much weight on the structure of your tent.
The pole is coloured using an innovative anodising method which eliminates the use of nitric and phosphoric acids. Your pegs may have a "raw" or "used" appearance, but they retain all their technical characteristics and strength; they are non-coloured because they are not anodised (no use of acid which only serves an aesthetic purpose). These actions help limit the environmental impact of your product.
Repairs and after-sales service
As designers and users who love our field, we care about the durability of our products, which is why all our tents are designed to be repairable. You’ll find spare parts (poles, bedroom etc) on the shelf or at the workshop of your Decathlon store, on the website or at support.decathlon.com In case of problems, feel free to have your tent inspected at your Decathlon store. After use or cleaning, do not store your tent until it is perfectly dry to prevent odours and mould forming.
The waterproofing of Forclaz tents is validated, tent pitched, under 200 litres of water/m²/hr (tropical rain) for 4 hours, excluding any water passing through seams, flaps, openings, zips, etc. The water column test (=mm Schmerber) measures the impermeability of the fabric. We test all our tents in a wind tunnel on a turntable on all four sides. We also perform tests on the components (abrasion, tearing, perforation etc).
