WHAT IS ECO-DESIGN ?

Eco-design integrates the environmental impact of a product from the initial design concept, taking into consideration the whole lifecycle of the product.

Integrating environmental impact means producing goods with minimized environmental impact starting from the design process.

A product that is designed (or redesigned) with this approach fulfills the same qualities of use while providing benefits to the environment.

OUR SINGAPORE MISSION
“WE ARE WORKING ON BEING 100% ECO DESIGNED BY 2026”
SOLAR-POWERED STORE
Decathlon Singapore Lab is a 5,000sqm store with a roof entirely covered by solar panels!
100% of the store is ran by energy from renewable resources only.
ECO-FRIENDLY BLUE BAG

“Since July 2020, all of our in-store blue bags have been switched to 100% recycled plastic bottles (or PET bottles).
This effectively reduces 35% of our CO2 emissions as compared to our previous reusable blue bags.

Here are the steps on how we create our Eco-friendly Blue Bags:”
step1
Step 1
Bottle waste from PET bottles are shredded into flakes and melted at a high temperature.
step2
Step 2
After heating, the plastic material is extruded into recycled polyester yarn and weaved into fabric.
step3
Step 3
The fabric is dyed our signature blue, and undergoes finishing and inspection.
step4
Step 4
It is then sewed to form bags ready for your use!
CLICK & COLLECT

In order to reduce our plastic usage, we started using mesh bags instead of the old plastic poly mailers to deliver your 2h Click & Collect orders. Today, we are finally using our very own customised blue bags for all your Click & Collect orders!

Since then, we have fulfilled a total of 47,108 orders across 7 Click & Collect stores. That’s both 47,108 plastic poly mailers, and a total of $17,500 saved from the removal of plastic poly mailers in our Click & Collect operations.

PROJECT HANG’UP
hanger+cycle.png

We use 10,000 hangers alone on the daily.

In 2020, we partnered with hanger company, Mainetti, to give our hangers a second life with project Hang’Up. In extending the project to Southeast Asia, we were able to save:

659,700 pieces hangers (13 models)
= 8436.3 kg in C02 emission saving

That’s equivalent to 47 trees planted!

Warehouse Operations

Throughout 2020, we brought about sustainable changes to our logistics operations. We invested in a LED lighting system in our logistic centre that was both electricity and cost-saving to reduce the ecological impact of our activity.

We also increased our cross border truck size to optimise transportation and reduce the frequency of trips needed from SEA to Singapore!

Total CO2 saved = 2454.73 kg!
